The forecast was for a 60% chance of rain but it didn’t eventuate. The weather was fine for flying with some of the best thermals for quite a while.
While Graham worked on a form 2 for the Libelle, the rest of us went flying with some great flights until a south westerly came in late in the day.
I had a great flight of about 45 minutes but in that time covered over 70kms flying along the ridgeline up to the cloud base at 6000ft and then nearly over to the edge of Lake Sorell, back to the airfield and then up to Mona Vale and back to Woodbury for a landing. A great training flight with the master, John Spilsbury instructing in the back seat. We could have stayed up much longer but we thought we should share the day. Thanks to Pete in the Pawnee for finding a great thermal for us. Pete is the one polishing the tug in the photos below.
Russell Palmer had several flights with John pulling the release on one flight at just above 300ft. Russell handled it all very well and made a perfect landing on a cross runway. Russell’s next flight was his first solo. Congratulations Russell. You can see the smile on Russell’s face from a mile away.
