We are proud to announce that Bethany Dodwell completed her first solo in a glider on Saturday 7th October 2023.
Bethany, an Arts teacher from Ulverstone, Tasmania is a Junior Member of the club (Under 25 yrs) and had partially completed her RAAus Pilot training before joining the Soaring Club of Tasmania.
Beth commented after the flight that “it was a good day” and thanked the crew for their assistance.

The next step for Bethany is more dual instruction followed by more solo flights and in a short time she will be a fully qualified glider pilot.
We are particularly pleased to see Bethany progressing well and we hope to see many more young women (and men) enjoy the sport of soaring.
The future for Beth is exciting, as we envisage Beth completing her Glider Pilot Certificate finishing her RAAus Pilot Certificate, and qualifying as a tow pilot.
